Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating.
My fourth selection for Waiting on Wednesday is Promised by Caragh M. O'Brien.
Goodreads Book Description: After defying the ruthless Enclave, surviving the wasteland, and upending the rigid matriarchy of Sylum, Gaia Stone now faces her biggest challenge ever. She must lead the people of Sylum back to the Enclave and persuade the Protectorat to grant them refuge from the wasteland. In Gaia’s absence, the Enclave has grown more cruel, more desperate to experiment on mothers from outside the wall, and now the stakes of cooperating or rebelling have never been higher. Is Gaia ready, as a leader, to sacrifice what—or whom—she loves most?
Why I Am Excited: Birthmarked, the first book in this trilogy, was one of my early dystopian YA reads. It was very compelling and I've been following eagerly since then. The second book, Prized, was a strong addition to the trilogy, and its own stand alone novel, not just filler (something that I really look for).
Why I am Worried: Bringing these two civilizations successfully will not be easy... but she's done a good job with the trilogy thus far. So we'll wait and see!
I'm really excited to see how O'Brien closes up this fantastic trilogy!
