Breathless Reads Tour: Reporting on the Road with Fiona Paul, author of the Secrets of the Eternal Rose Trilogy and US Giveaway!

My good St. Louis author friend, Fiona Paul is off touring with a bunch of other big name authors, and has been kind enough to stop by Ensconced in YA to tell us how things have been going. First, I want to re-iterate HOW MUCH I loved the second book, Belladonna, which I am giving away. And it's SIGNED. So you all want this copy! US only (sorry my INT friends)

Belladonna (Secrets of the Eternal Rose, #2)Goodreads Book description: The second book in the Secrets of the Eternal Rose trilogy.

Cassandra follows a trail of clues about the mysterious Order of the Eternal Rose to Florence. There she runs into a few familiar faces, including Falco, who is now working for a nine-fingered woman known as Belladonna. When Cass discovers Belladonna is involved in the Order, she won’t rest until she discovers the shadowy society’s true purpose, knowledge that will put her—and everyone she loves—in terrible danger.

My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

I loved, loved, LOVED this book! You all must read it. I can't wait to buy a hard copy.

Now turning back to Fiona and the Breathless Tour...

1) Tell us a little about the Breathless Reads tour. Can you tell us about the great company you are keeping?

So for the last couple of years Penguin has sent groups of authors on tour in February as part of the Breathless Reads campaign. This year I am lucky enough to be one of them.

The great company includes:

Beth Revis=hilariousness and timely arrivals to the airport
Jessica Spotswood=adorably enthusiastic and able to fall asleep in an instant
Elizabeth Richards=fun, fashionable, and an accent so lovely that it caused a minor commotion in the schools
Morgan Rhodes=laid-back publishing expert with lots of great knowledge to share

2) What has been your favorite thing about the tour?

Meeting everyone has been so great. They're all working as full-time writers and I'm not so I feel really lucky to get to learn from their amazing successes. They are dynamos! :)

3) What cities are you going to? Which ones have you been to and which have you not?
Been to: Chapel Hill and Greenville and Miami
Going to: Memphis, NYC, Connecticut

4) What has been one of the best questions asked by an audience member?

One of the high school students ask us to explain exactly what it is about our books that makes them creative. (Tough crowd!)

5) What will you look forward to most when you get home?

Sleep. Catching up on work and school. Mostly sleep.

6) Tell us a little about Comic Con which is coming to St. Louis and what are you most excited about? I need to get my tickets pronto!

I am excited to hang with the fabulous Left Bank Books at St. Louis Comic Con. I am excited to talk to readers and maybe see some of my fellow St. Louis authors. I think there will be at least five of us there :) If there's any free time I would love to see Ernie Hudson who played Officer Albrecht in The Crow, which is my favorite movie, and of course to see Inara Serra of Firefly. Honestly my brain has partially melted away and I can't remember her real name right now. I keep wanting to say Mayim Bayalik but that's the girl who played Blossom and so that is totally not right. Morena Baccarin--that's her.

First school visit in Chapel Hill went great! #breathlessreads

  4. I have another favorite thing to add since turning in this little mini-report! In Miami we were lucky enough to speak at the City of Hialeah Educational Academy. Those kids were an author's DREAM AUDIENCE and they are going to rock as the next generation of Florida's firefighters, medics and police officers.
