Dear all:
As you know, I've taken a pretty long hiatus from blogging. There are a couple of reasons why:
1. Took Pediatric Boards in October
Studying for this pretty much took up any spare time, so I had to cut down on my favorite past time.
2. Writing my first novel
It's currently in its third draft and with one of my traditionally published friends to see if it's worth sending out to the world in some form or fashion. I'll keep you guys posted and have some upcoming posts about the writing process!
3. Editing
I'm a freelance editor in my spare time, so I've taken a pretty big project recently, to edit a wonderful memoir by Barbara Amaya, who is a trafficking survivor. Working with her has made it clear that this book needs to be out in the world to make people more aware of this huge problem. If you didn't know (and I didn't), it's a huge problem not only internationally, but also here in the United States. I'll be doing a preview and some promotion for this in January.
4. Work:
Things have gotten pretty crazy in the research lab that I'm working in, but finally in the last two weeks have been getting some amazing results!
Anyway, I'm hoping to get back into blogging. I'll never do it as frequently as I did when I started since I'm transitioning to writing books more, but I'll try to post once a week.
I've decided to rebrand my blog as ENSCONCED IN LIT because my novel is adult contemporary, and I've branched out from reading just YA. I want to share some of those reads with you all without having a second blog.
It was nice to take a break from YA, but it'll always be my first love!
I'm also going to start doing some giveaways this month to thank my readers and hopefully remind people I'm still around! Can't wait to see you all more in the future!

I think when one starts out as YA, they slowly integrate themselves into Adult books. Some "grow up" and others still keep the mix. Awesome to see you've rebranded and YA will always be there when you need to embrace your inner teen.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! I will always love YA, but I love getting to read all sorts of books.
DeleteI mostly read YA, but occasionally go back to the adult books I used to read, as an adult. I'm 41, but find YA easier of course, but more interesting most of the time. It's like I want to read for fun in my free time, and YA does that. Glad to see you're going to be back, sounds like you've definitely been busy!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to be back as well! I think I will always love YA, but it is nice to read other types of books (I'm currently reading a bunch of memoirs and other nonfiction) just for a change. I'll always go back to YA though!
DeleteChristina! We haven't talked in like forever and I miss you! I hope everything has gone good for you these past couple months! It's also really cool how you decided to branch out to all sorts of lit instead of just YA. I love YA as much as the next person but it's always fun to learn about other genres and which books are good or not in those categories! :)
ReplyDeleteI KNOW! I miss you so much!!! I'm so excited to share different types of books as well :-)
DeleteWelcome back! As much as I love YA, I'm glad you're branching out! We definitely need more mixed genre blogs! :D
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! Thanks!
DeleteI am really sad that you won't be around as much, but I am so excited for all the wonderful things you have going on in your life right now! I have so much respect for the way you're able to balance it all. Best of luck with the rebranding and your novel and everything, Christina!
ReplyDeleteI guess it depends on which way you look at it-- I'll definitely be around much more than I have been in the last 6 months lol! And you'll always see me on twitter. Thanks so much for all of the support, and I can't wait to share my novel with you guys!
DeleteYour rebranding is exciting because you do so much more with your blog :) You sure have been busy though! The freelance editor gig sounds really neat, how did you get started in that? Looking forward to hearing more about your journey with your book that you're writing. Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!! I just fell into the editing. People just started to ask me if I would edit their stuff, so I said yes, and realized they wanted to pay me for it, so even better! Now I have a lot more contacts and work closely with one of the indie publishing companies that's just starting up so I get a lot of work from them. It's been super fun!
DeleteI'll definitely be blogging about my adventures with writing my first novel, so tune in for that soon!
Hiiii!!!!!! I miss you and I'm so excited for all the wonderful things you have going on! Congrats on re-branding your blog! I can't wait to see what kinds of things you blog about now!
ReplyDeleteI miss you too!!!! I'm really excited too. I feel like my life is really awesome right now, and I'm doing and learning so many great things in all aspects of my life. Can't wait to see where the journey takes me!
Delete(I think I commented.. but it disappeared..) I'm so excited you're back! I've missed you!!!!! I'm so excited for all the fun things you have going on and I can't wait to see what you have coming up on your blog!
ReplyDeleteHey Christina! *waves* I've missed you! Sounds like you've been keeping crazy super busy! Glad to have you back and I can't wait to hear more about your upcoming book! I recall reading a piece of your writing before and it was crazy good. Very exciting stuff!

ReplyDeleteWelcome back! I'm glad you're back. :) I look forward to seeing new things on your blog!
ReplyDeleteWe all need breaks here and there! My brother is a freelance designer so I know how hectic life can get!
ReplyDeleteWell welcome back! I love YA books and New Adult books and every thing in between but I do have to say YA will always be my favorite. Even though I am not a young adult it will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for the giveaway. And I'm excited your back.

ReplyDeleteGood to see you and hear you are doing so well.
ReplyDeleteDamn, you've been busy! Good luck with the first book.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear things are going so well for you! Between taking the Pediatric Boards, writing your own book and being a freelancer it is easy to understand why it is hard to find time for blogging. But as long as you post every now and then to keep us updated that's the important thing!
ReplyDeleteAlso glad to read that YA will always be your first love :)
Welcome back! Good to know that things are going well for you!

ReplyDeleteI hope your boards and everything went well! I have to take the Bar over the summer and I'm already starting to stress out about it D= I'm excited for the re-brand. I've debated doing that myself since I do read more then YA nowadays. Can't wait to see that changes =D
