Part II Interview with Jodi Meadows and International Giveaway of Incarnate or Asunder AND signed bookplate!

Jodi picture
Welcome back to part two of this great interview with Jodi Meadows.

Blurb about Author:
Jodi Meadows lives and writes in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, with her husband, a Kippy*, and an alarming number of ferrets. She is a confessed book addict, and has wanted to be a writer ever since she decided against becoming an astronaut.
*A Kippy is a cat.

Asunder (Newsoul, #2)Goodreads description of Asunder: DARKSOULS
Ana has always been the only one. Asunder. Apart. But after Templedark, when many residents of Heart were lost forever, some hold Ana responsible for the darksouls–and the newsouls who may be born in their place.

SHADOWS
Many are afraid of Ana’s presence, a constant reminder of unstoppable changes and the unknown. When sylph begin behaving differently toward her and people turn violent, Ana must learn to stand up not only for herself but for those who cannot stand up for themselves.

LOVE
Ana was told that nosouls can’t love. But newsouls? More than anything, she wants to live and love as an equal among the citizens of Heart, but even when Sam professes his deepest feelings, it seems impossible to overcome a lifetime of rejection.

In this second book in the Incarnate trilogy, Ana discovers the truth about reincarnation and will have to find a way to embrace love and make her young life meaningful. Once again, Jodi Meadows explores the extraordinary beauty and shadowed depths of the soul in a story equal parts epic romance and captivating fantasy.

Author Interview Part II
1. I think the world building for this trilogy is very unique. What sort of thought process went into creating this back story?
The very first thing I did was consider how perpetual reincarnation would have influenced the society and how their worldviews would be different from ours. If they could be reincarnated as a male or female, gender might not make such a huge difference, for example. I also considered how they'd use technology and what kind of things they'd actually keep after a while. What would be the most valuable and useful to them?

It's a very different world than ours, and it took some time to feel like I understood it. I knew it would be difficult for a lot of readers to get their minds around, too, which made Ana's point of view even more valuable. She's the normal-to-us person. She makes a good filter.

2. Do you outline your plots ahead of time or do you create your characters and see where they lead you?
I write a query-style description of the story first, to make sure I know what the most important elements are, and then I write a synopsis. I don't plan everything ahead -- for example, the masquerade was never in my first synopsis for INCARNATE -- but for me, it's best to know where I'm going.

3. If you could start all over again as an author, what would you tell yourself before getting into the business?
I'd be cryptic and tell myself not to give up. As hard as my journey to publication was, I wouldn't want to change anything about it. Writing so much, being rejected so much -- it's all made me a better and stronger writer.

4. Tell us a little bit about Asunder without giving too much away.
Hmm. Well, more will be revealed about the world building. Lots of questions will be answered. (Lots more questions will be asked.)

Sylph play a major role.
