Part I C.S. Einfeld Interview and International giveaway

As promised, here is my Monday post a little early! I am so excited to introduce C.S. Einfeld, the author of the wonderful book Neverdark!

My rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Goodreads Book Description:
Warning! This book contains (1) very kick-butt Faerie Princess, an Evil Dark Lord, a rhino-beetle named "Gor", Dragonfly Riders, Bat Brigades and an extremely adorable, fluffy, pet firefly with anger-management issues.

The Faeries of Southnut are in big trouble. Lord Darkwater is up to no good. The White Castle of Doru is under attack by the greatest army Princess Fiera's ever seen. Lord Darkwater is poised to crush her tiny kingdom unless the king gives Fiera up to become his wife.

Well, fffungus! She's having none of that! The race is on for Fiera to outwit Lord Darkwater's Dragonfly Riders, Bat Brigades, and even a giant, faerie-eating Spider to save herself and, before it's too late, her whole world.

Amazon review: Neverdark Review

Author Blurb: C.S. Einfeld is a happy recluse who lives on a tiny farm, on a small island, somewhere in the vast North Atlantic Ocean. She was last seen walking with her pet emu, Archimedes, down an old country road. Her long suffering (and extremely talented), hubby, Aaron Einfeld, is the illustrator of 'Neverdark'. Sometimes, he walks Archimedes, too.

Awesome recent press for this book!

Author Interview Part I.
1. What was the inspiration for Neverdark?
Neverdark was originally started as a gift for my niece and nephews. I wanted to give them something personally made, just for them, and I can’t knit. So, I thought, why not a fairy tale? I started writing and about three months later, the first draft was finished.

2. I think it's so terrific that you and your husband are an author/artist team. Is this something you have been waiting to do together or was it a complete surprise?
We've always shared a creative life, whether that be music, crafts--even, cooking! So, it's natural for each of us to bring our personal creative strengths to the table in everything we do. Aaron was 100% involved from the start and even helped build the story. Every detail was discussed at length as we went along. The lamp post that emits the eerie amber glow that IS 'Neverdark' was actually his idea!

3. Who was your favorite character to write about in Neverdark and why?
Sparky! I love Sparky for his huge heart, his unshakable loyalty and his guts! He's fearless! He has no idea that he's just a little firefly and that maybe, it might not be such a good idea to take on the big, bad guys all by himself. He loves Princess Fiera unconditionally and will do whatever it takes to keep her safe which, through the course of the story, turns out to be a really big job!

Tune in tomorrow for the rest of this great interview! Enter to win a signed copy of Neverdark or a copy of A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness!

  1. I would like to thank you for this amazing book giveaway, that i would love to have the oportunity of reading & reviewing! I found the interview most insightful as i am truly excited about 'NeverDark' and would love to read it.

In response to your question i would have to say a cucoon into a butterfly, as they turn more beautiful when growing and learning- as one should not judge a being on its outer shell for beauty does lie within, hence when you glimpse inside you see something truly beautiful. x

  2. I would be a caterpillar. It'd be so weird to go through that change in your life and turn into a pretty butterfly. I love caterpillars though, so I am biased.

    1. That would be a little alarming wouldn't it? I can't imagine morphing into a totally different creature.

  3. Hmmmm... I think I'd like to be a fly - like the proverbial 'fly-on-the-wall'. Being able to fly would be great and it'd be a lot like being invisible and probably a lot of fun.... other than the super short life-span and the fact everyone would be swatting to kill me.

Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  4. The synopsis of Neverdark is quite humorous, I'm thinking the whole book may be that way. Good stuff!

    1. Those guys can leap forever. You wonder where the ideas for superheroes come from? The rhino beetle lifts 850 times its own weight. Flying, spinning webs, walking on water, serious inspiration.

  7. Rolly polly! I don't know the 'technical' term for them but they are the cutest thing in the whole wide world. It would be the coolest thing is roll into a ball and roll everywhere I go. Hehehe.

Thanks so much for the awesome giveaway :)

    1. I love rolly pollies too! what IS the technical term??

    2. They're actually called pill bugs and they consume rotting wood. The dragonfly squadrons would drop them on unsuspecting faerie villages, in order to reek havoc, as they're mainly made of wood.I agree, they are pretty cool.
