Author Interview Part II.
1) Which character was the most unexpected in either
personality or actions and why?
In my original
outline for Beckoning Light, James was more of a villain. When I started
writing him I realized he was a much more complex character than I imagined.
One of my favorite parts about James is that you never know what to expect from
him.
2) I feel like there is a bit of a love triangle going on,
or maybe I'm imagining it. Will we find out more in the third book?
You’re not imagining
it. Charlotte experiences different types of love and attraction during the
Afterglow books, and her feelings tend to make things even more complicated for
her. I think this is something that a lot of teenage girls (even the ones who
aren’t part of a hidden world) feel. You
will definitely find out more in Enduring
Light.
3) Can you tell us a little bit about the last book in the
trilogy without revealing too much?
In Enduring Light, Charlotte and Kevin are
once again off on their own journeys. Kevin and Samantha head to Alaska, while
Charlotte, Calvin, and Liam are in Energo. Both groups need to find what they
are searching for if they want any chance to defeat Blake. Of course there’s
also a lot of romance issues to deal with. Kevin and Samantha are together for
the first time back in “our world,” and the fact that Charlotte is traveling with
both boys will bring up some issues of its own.
4) Do you have any words of advice for aspiring writers that
are struggling with world building in their manuscripts?
The only advice about
world building I have is to create your characters first. Sometimes you’ll get
lucky and the characters will build the world around them.

ReplyDeleteI had a dream 2 yrs ago that I was walking down some steps and it was a garden of some sort. Filled with flowers. It was so beautiful. Thats where i would go of course with a book. Don't think i would ever leave there lol
