Part II of Author Interview.

1) I love that each of the characters has a power. If you each could pick a power, what would it be and why?
I (Christy) would definitely choose Raeylan's powers. Teleportation and control of time is would save me tons of hours in my real life!
Amanda would choose Kyle's powers. Super strength is cool.

2) For our aspiring writers, what do you think was the hardest part about writing a book and how did you overcome that challenge?
There are two things that are especially difficult. I think #1 is trying to get published. We searched publishing avenues for nearly 5 years before we just did the indie thing. We must have sent off about 150 query letters to agents and publishers. Every rejection made us question whether or not we were in the right line of business. Finally, we just decided we didn't care about industry perception. Our goal was to write a novel that, as young adults, we would have loved to read. Publicity is hard as independent writers with no money to invest, but we decided that we didn't care to be the next mass produced super-seller. Every person who reads our novel and loves it is a tribute to our work and we celebrate that!
The second hardest challenge is writing together. We brainstorm. We create and argue. We throw things at each other. But in the end, we design characters we love and enemies we fear (the wolves are the stuff of my nightmares, while my sister insists that movie theater projector booths are the creepiest places on the planet) that are more real than anything we might design alone.

3) What is next for our favorite quartet from the Shardwell Series? Do you have a hint for what's to come?
Hold on to your seat, because our novel is not structured in the traditional linear sense. Phoenix Angel slapped you with a gut wrenching cliffhanger, but Guardian of Time takes you into the characters' pasts. You will learn the cause of Maggie's uncontrollable anger, the depth of her friendship with Lily, and the mystery behind who Carter really is.

  2. Oops! I forgot to add that I would chose to read minds provided I could block out people when I choose too. I think that would be so helpful.
