It's time for the....
Third Annual - Mid-Winter's Eve Giveaway Hop

December 21st to 27th

Co-hosted by Oasis for YA

Thanks to both I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and Oasis for YA for sponsoring this great giveaway blog hop! I am featuring a terrific author, Keary Taylor.
Eden

Welcome Keary Taylor, who is the author of the books Eden and What I Didn't Say. I remember reading Eden a year ago, and being really impressed by it! I'm so excited to be able to interview her on my blog and share it with all of you!

Goodreads Book Description of Eden: Eve knew the stories of the Fall, of a time before she wandered into the colony of Eden, unable to recall anything but her name. She's seen the aftermath of the technology that infused human DNA with cybernetic matter, able to grow new organs and limbs, how it evolved out of control. The machine took over and the soul vanished. A world quickly losing its humanity isn't just a story to her though. At eighteen, this world is Eve's reality.

In their Fallen world, love feels like a selfish luxury, but not understanding what it is makes it difficult to choose between West, who makes her feel alive but keeps too many secrets, and Avian, who has always been there for her, but is seven years her senior.

The technology wants to spread and it won't stop until there is no new flesh to assimilate. With only two percent of the human population left, mankind is on the brink of extinction. While fighting to keep Eden alive, Eve will discover that being human is about what you will do for those you love, not what your insides may be made of. And even if it gets you killed, love is always what separates them from the Fallen.

My Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

My review: Eden Review

Author Blurb:
Keary Taylor grew up along the foothills of the Rocky Mountains where she started creating imaginary worlds and daring characters who always fell in love. She now resides on a tiny island in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and their two young children. She continues to have an overactive imagination that frequently keeps her up at night. She is the author of the FALL OF ANGELS trilogy, EDEN, and WHAT I DIDN'T SAY.

Author Interview Part I.

1) Tell us a little about your journey to starting your writing career-- was there a certain person/book/inanimate object that inspired you to start?

I started writing when I was about 13.  My best friend and I were WAY into Harry Potter and we started writing this epic fan-fiction.  Harry Potter was really the only young adult fiction I ever read as an actual young adult.  After I had my first child my sister introduced me to some other YA and that was when I became addicted and started writing my own.  It took me a while to figure out what I was doing, but I love every moment of my writing journey!

2) I absolutely loved your book Eden and the world you created. Can you tell us a little about how you got this idea and your brainstorming process in general?

I actually got the idea while watching Star Wars III.  There was this shot of Anakin with his new mechanical hand and I had the thought “wouldn’t that be cool if he’d grown that himself and it was a part of his DNA?”  And Eden just started blossoming from there!

3) I think most people remarked on this in their reviews of your book Eden-- both love interests (West and Avian) are great and very hard to choose between. Without giving too much away, did you know starting out who you were leaning towards or did it just play out as the story progressed?

This is part of the big Eden secret that I revealed on my blog a few months ago.  When I started writing Eden Eve was supposed to end up with the other guy.  I had it all planned out.  But then Eve surprised me by saying this line to one of the guys: “You mean more to me than anyone here in Eden.”  And that changed the whole course of the book.  Eve told me who it was she needed and that really surprised me.  But I am very happy with her choice!
Tune in tomorrow for the rest of this awesome interview.
