Part II of Interview with Lisa Burstein, author of Pretty Amy

We're back with the second half of the awesome Lisa Burstein interview!

Blurb about Lisa Burstein: Lisa Burstein is a tea seller by day and a writer by night. She received her MFA in Creative Writing from the Inland Northwest Center for Writers at Eastern Washington University. She lives in Portland, Oregon with her very patient husband, a neurotic dog and two cats. Pretty Amy is her first novel. She never went to her senior prom.

Part II of Lisa Burstein Interview:

1) We all want to know-- was your actual prom anything similar to what Amy's was like?
I would have liked to go to my senior prom. :).
No one asked me. I had a boyfriend at the time but he was a junior and I guess I didn't want to ask him. There was a boy in my grade I was friends with, he was also friends with two of my good friends to and basically he was like I will take one of you to the prom. It went on for two weeks of his trying to decide which one of us to take. It was weird and stressful, like an episode of the bachelor before that show existed. Guess who he picked? The pretty one. Some friend!

2) Any words of advice for writers suffering from writer's block?
This is what everyone says, but its really true, you need to write through it. You can't edit a blank page. Also I find it helps to know what I am going to write about before I write about it. As in having a topic, or a line to get me started with each writing session. I never start with a blank page.

3) Tell us more about the book about Cassie, one of the characters from Pretty Amy. Will this be the same events from Cassie's point of view, or will this be entirely in a different time?
DEAR CASSIE is going to occur after PRETTY AMY ends, when Cassie is sent to a rehabilitation retreat in the wilderness. It is told in diary format and each chapter is a day of her 30 day stay.
